Olympics 1984 - Los Angeles

Cyprus
The 23rd Olympiad at Los Angeles is marked by the escalation of the involvement of political and ideological differences, which endangers the spirit and the continuation of the Olympic Games.

Establishing Olympia as the permanent place for the Olympic Games, proposed by the President of the Republic of Greece, Constantine Karamanlis, in 1980, just before the Moscow Olympiad, constitutes possibly the only hope for the survival of the Olympic Spirit.

This is the second time Cyprus participates in the Olympic Games in the following events: Track, sailing, shooting, swimming, judo, riding and cycling.
