Greek Caricature

Greece
Greek Caricature dates back to antiquity, as the right to parody had been conquered as earl as in classical Greece, the first Democracy on the planet. In modern times, the art of caricature was reborn - through the ancient Greek tradition and under the European influence - by five principal representatives of art currents and historic periods. Themos Anninos illustrated through caricatures Greece's transformation into a European state after the dominance of the Ottoman empire. Dimitris Galanis satirizes the Belle Epoque and mid-ear period, and Fokion Dimitriadis parodies the post-war period (after World War I) all the way to the space era. Archelaus Antonaros expresses the ethology of the post-war and post-civil war period of Greece, and Kostas Mitropoulos comments on the Cold War period and modern times.
